Bring the Hate tour 2010

Redstar-Demo

Redstar Skateboards did a demo today in Waterloo at one of the worst parks in Ontario, however, they still made the most of the slick plastic benches that the city somehow paid $30 000+ on putting together on some ashpalt. This is Paul Trep and Grant Patterson and Chad Dickson, shout out to Opeyc for putting this together.

If you missed the demo in Waterloo you can check the team out this weekend:

July 31 – The Board Shop, London

August 3 – Ward Skate Park, Guelph

August 7 – Wake Stock

We’re down with Korean Kids

Literally. My friend and photographer/teacher Evan Nash lives in Seoul, Korea.  He’s been getting his class hyped on skateboarding, and  was able to get the kids to pay their respects to Stickiest of the Icky’s birthday with some art.

Just a reminder the STICKIEST OF THE ICKY 1.7 YEAR ANNIVERSARY SKATE JAM is going down this Friday, 9-midnight!

The Twins

The Twins aka Joel and Isaac Watamaniuk got a check out in the new King Shit magazine, aka the best skateboard magazine since Big Brother (RIP). Go get your free copy and expand your mind by reading quality articles by Dave Carnie. Sometimes the articles relate to skateboarding, but mostly he writes about whale cocks, fecal matter, dog races, and things that happened while he was wasted.

Check out more of the Twins at Love Skateboards or Sanction.

Dirty Tre

Ademar Lucas, better known as Luquinhas with a tre flip flip over some filth. As soon as Luquinhas sent this to me I knew it was shot by Dhani Borges. Dhani can shoot anything and make it look amazing, he’s definitely not limited to skateboarding. To me he’s like the Brazilian version of Scott Pommier, skillwise anyway…SO SEEEEEEEEK.

Best Board Graphic of 2009.

So I know we’re only half way through the year, but this board graphic is seriously some next level shit. I don’t care what the rest of the year brings, this is officially the number one board. Do you have the cajones to ride it? Probably not, because you’re hella weak. This is on the same level as that “Jew-Lien” Stranger board that came out last year.

Shanghai, seen. aka, Update #420.

Kevin Long + a wizard. Photo by SOTI, Wizard by Kevin Long

Kevin Long + a wizard. Photo by SOTI, Wizard by Kevin Long

There’s a lot going on in Shanghai right now, so plenty of updates for your bad self. The Asian X-Games are in town, so I’ve got some good footage of what went down on the street course coming soon, 3 new Dork Trick Tips are on the way, an interview with Johnny Tang is about to go down along with some footage from the FLY skateboard team’s trip to Beijing. Check back on the regular, content is flowing like a bumbaclaat, or perhaps even a rasclaat.

Here’s the results from the Shanghai X-Games Street Finals:

Austen Seaholm USA – 88.00
Fabrizio Santos BRA – 83.67
Carlos de Andrade BRA – 82.67
Juergen Horrwath GER – 82.33
Danilo Do Rosario BRA – 82.00
Dayne Brummet USA – 79.00
Tyler Hendley USA – 78.67
Tomas Vintr CZE – 77.33
Rodolfo Ramos BRA 76.00
Andy Macdonald USA 75.00

Good judging by Dave Duncan and the WCSK8 crew, Austen definitely deserved first, and Andy definitely deserved last…

And why is there a picture of Kevin Long for this long winded update post? Because he’s in Shanghai right now as well and the wizard he drew is f****n sweet.

Tod Swank & Foundation Down Under

Tumyeto boss Mr Tod Swank has been kind enough to show off some exclusive photos from Foundation’s Australia and NZ Tour. Apparently things are quite different down under. Have you ever been skating a spot where they offer to bring you cookies? I’ve had offers to be arrested, punched in the face, or to hit a crack pipe….definitely no cookies.

Did the teachers at the school where this handrail is actually bring you guys apples and drinks? What the F is going on?

I swear. We moseyed on in there and there were teachers and preschool kids all over and we just barged. The kids watched. Parents picking up their kids watched. Rhino from Thrasher was shooting pics. Chris Ray from TWS was shooting hidef. I was doing door guard duty so no kids would run out in the path of the landing area. The principle came out and I cringed. I keep waiting for her to bark at us. She never did. She actually talked to Rhino telling him about how they have skate day at the school. Then this hot teacher came out with a tray of apple wedges and cookies for us. We finished up shooting. David Reyes and the Nuge killing it. It was weird and surreal. Like a dream.

Cookies and apples contain enough nutrients to back lip a handrail with ease.

When you were on the Gold Coast, did you notice a lot more girls vomiting on the streets compared to other cities in Australia?

Actually I did not notice this anywhere. Is this common?  Kinda gross.

Maybe it’s just a Surfers Paradise thing then. Did you ever meet the legendary Lee Ralph?

Yes back in the day. Lance’s ramp and some other spots. I saw him at a trade a few years ago and he remembered me.  I was siked.

Lee + Lee's beard + a layback. I found this photo online and jacked it. If you have a problem, then I will either fight you or take the photo down depending on how tough you are.

Could you grow a better beard then Lee Ralph if you wanted to?
Nope.

Who’s your favourite Aussie Skater? Past, Present, or Future. Well, I guess past or present, unless you can tell the future. Take a guess…

Andrew Currie rode for the F and killed it. He threw down. Lee Ralph is probably the most memorable to me. I saw some dude killing it at the demo that we did at a new park on the Gold Goast. Ripping the back bowl and cradle. Chad Bartie back the F for a spell.

All photos were taken by Tod Swank, except for the one of Lee Ralph which I stole aka borrowed from the internet….so if that’s your photo, thanks, and if you want me to take it down I’ll fight you, or I’ll take it down. Thanks again.
