What do you think of the trend of taking years to film a video part?
Well filming can be tough, getting hurt or getting the boot from spots, and/or trying a hard ass trick can slow up the whole thing. Whatever though, it is what it is.

Any backlash from haters by having guys like Kelch?
Kelch is no longer with Turf, he’s rollin with his old sponsor. He is the best. Kelch is my son’s godfather. Haters, whats that? hahahaha

Johnny-Tang-interview

Originally from Toronto, Johnny relocated to China about 5 years ago. He’s the Nike SB China team manager. Unlike many fat and old TM’s, Johnny still rips and rides for FLY skateshop, Gift skateboards, Nike Sha-Bi and Cart wheels. Johnny’s greatly missed in Toronto, but you can see why he doesn’t plan on leaving Shanghai any time soon, 70 cent 1.5L beers aside.

Nike SB is prounounced  “Nike Sha-Bi” in China, which apparently means “Nike Pussy” (not as in cat..)*

At least that’s what Lyn told me. Can anyone confirm this one? Email me.

*UPDATE* Just got an email from Allie in Hangzhou, China. Turns out sha-bi means “stupid twat”. Excellent.

This is Jonatas doing 2 kinds of crazy shit, sort of a yin and yang effect if you please. Good versus Bad, Boa versus Mau, whatever language you put it, it’s pretty hefty on the gnar-gnar sauce.

Filmed in Rio de Janeiro, specifically a spot called “Galpao” in Nova Iguacu.

Luquinhas is an extremely gifted person and very humble at the same time, which can be a rare thing. I’ve never heard anyone say a bad thing about him, and if you get to meet him you’ll know doubt understand why. The guy just radiates good vibes, so expect big things because he’s way younger than you and he has more tricks than the biggest Putaria in Brasil…..

So, lets start with the typical questions…name, age, sponsors?

Ademar Lucas aka Luquinhas, I’m 18 and I’ve been skateboarding for 7 years. Right now I’m part of the flow team for DC shoes, Brasil.

Recently you were traveling across Brasil for an MTV show, how was that?

Yeah, I was part of this program with Marcelo D2 (MC), Fernandinho (beat boxer), Felipe Motta (graffiti artist), DJ Will and another skater Willians Dentinho. I didn’t know most of the crew but I’ve known Felipe and Dentinho for a while. The experience was amazing, it helped me out a lot by getting my image on national TV and material in Brasil’s biggest skateboard magazine, 100%. I got to see a lot of places and met some good friends too.

How many kilos of weed does Marcelo D2 smoke every day?

A little…!

You got to travel to a lot of places last year, what did you think of Chile?

It was sick…so many dope spots, a really good crew (good blood!), the only thing I didn’t like was the food.

How was “Go Skate Day” in Rio de Janeiro this year?

Style, there were way more people than last year. They premiered a best trick contest too, it was an unforgettable day for the Rio crew.

Like always, every day is new story here. Skating on the streets here in Rio is never easy, a lot of stuff happens here in a little time!

So there seems to be a lot of talk about what is and what isn’t a dork trick nowadays…. I guarantee you 10 years ago if you did an airwalk, you would get beat down by thugs wearing Osiris D3′s. Now, it seems they’re in style again and I have to agree that it’s a pretty gnarly trick, especially when dudes like Lizard King do them down Wallenberg in San Francisco. So maybe it’s a dork trick, maybe it isn’t, either way my friend from China will show you how to do them down the 3 set at Love Park in Shanghai.
